CEREC – Dental Restorations
What is dental restoration?
- Inlays, which replace fillings (amalgams or composites):
a ceramic block cut to size to protect a large or deep cavity caused by decay, while guaranteeing strength, durability, and aesthetic appeal. They are used on slightly to moderately damaged teeth; - Crowns, which can be placed on a tooth or a dental implant: cut from ceramic, they restore teeth, enabling them to regain their functionality and maintain oral health. They are used to restore teeth that are more damaged, but whose root is still viable, or to replace a missing tooth (crowns on implants);
- Veneers: these are thin porcelain shells, cut to the shape of the teeth, which cover the front of the teeth to restore their beauty and radiance. They are used for aesthetic purposes on healthy teeth whose visual appearance has deteriorated.
CEREC: state-of-the-art, versatile technology
Previously, these different types of restoration required several visits, time to take impressions using a special paste, to have the inlay, crown or veneers fabricated, and then to fit them. CEREC technology makes all these inconveniences a thing of the past! Now, if you need a restoration, a single visit to your dentist in Outremont is all it takes to leave with a smile.
CEREC creates high-quality ceramic dental restorations using a computerized system that creates a virtual impression of your teeth and fabricates the necessary restoration on site. In two hours or less, your situation is assessed, and your restoration is created and installed.
